New ranking of insurance application providers

Everyone had an old school uncle who worked in the insurance industry, a member of the “million dollar club” that made big commissions on those premiums. You remember ?

Well, forget it. Nowadays, we do everything in the digital domain. You respond to an offer, download an application and like that, you are insured. No three martini lunches. Just pure productivity.

The latest update to the PYMNTS Insurance Application Provider Rankings reflects both the stability and competition among these risk underwriters.

This time around, there’s a bit more change than we’re used to, which is a sign of health and dynamism in an industry once dominated by men in lime green golf pants.

Thanks to our lucky stars, times have changed. So have the rankings (a little). Check it out.

The Top 5

Nope. They’re still tied at No.1. We refer, of course, to the natural curiosity for top-level tie that continues over and over again between Geico and Progressive, which remains unchanged.

Almost all of the Top 5 is unchanged. Keep this “almost” handy though.

Solid as the dirt at # 2, this is State Farm.

Another tie now, this time for the # 3 position, and still between these friendly fighters Allstate Mobile and USAA Mobile. How long are they going to surround themselves like this? Such suspense.

Now invoke that “almost” because we have a change at # 4 as Liberty Mutual Mobile goes up one position in the chart. It’s pretty exciting for these pieces, but the next one is even bigger.

Entering the Top 5 at No. 5 for the first time in the big leagues is the Lemonade Insurance app, also at the top of a spot in the process. Welcome. Yes, we serve lemonade (all 273 flavor variations).

The Top 10

Here, among the hopes, we start with the Jerry: Car Insurance app which has lost a position in the Top 5 to No. 6. So very close.

We now have another tied score, this time at No.7, and pitting Cover – Insurance in a Snap (already holding that position) against Farmers Insurance Mobile up one place.

Carried by the enthusiasm of the market like an umbrella caught in a gust of wind, the Travelers Mobile application climbs from one position in the ranking to No. 8.

Not so much uphill than downhill, Esurance Mobile examines the view from # 9.

Closing this ranking of insurance application providers is the Safeco Mobile application, which plays it safe and sticks to the same position in the graph as last month.

Your old school uncle in the golf cart with the polyester suit would approve, but in this restrained manner he elevated it to an art form. You know how to bypass the renewal deadline.

On: Forty-seven percent of U.S. consumers avoid digital-only banks due to data security concerns, despite considerable interest in these services. In Digital Banking: The Brewing Battle For Where We Will Bank, PYMNTS surveyed over 2,200 consumers to reveal how digital-only banks can boost privacy and security while providing convenient services to meet this unmet demand.
