Match report | Reading 1-2 Cardiff City

With City’s confidence flying after their well-deserved equaliser, the blue birds stepped up their pressure on the hosts in search of the winner.

Clinical with the ball at their feet, City were also ruthless when not in possession, pressing the Royals and forcing their opponents into mistakes on a consistent basis.

After replacing Ralls in midfield, it was substitute Will Vaulks who scored the winning goal. Five minutes from the end, the midfielder was magnificently slipped by Tommy Doyle, and got it right in front of goal, before racing to celebrate in front of the City faithful who had turned out in their thousands to support the Bluebirds.

Holding on for the rest of regulation time with seven extra minutes added, the Bluebirds held on for three more points in emphatic style.

City return for more action in the Sky Bet Championship with another away trip on Friday April 15, this time against Hull City.

Thank you to the 2,134 Bluebirds present on Saturday afternoon!
