Freedom Finance appoints Emma Steeley as CEO

Digital lending marketplace Freedom Finance has hired Emma Steeley (pictured) as managing director, succeeding Brian Brodie who will take on a newly created role of chairman.

Steeley will take office as of today and joins Equifax where she served as Managing Director of AccountScore for nearly four years and prior to that served as Chief Commercial Officer.

Previously, she was Director of Marketing at Account Technologies and previously worked at DTW Associates as Managing Director.

She has also worked at Ariste, MEM Consumer Finance and Racoon International.

According to Freedom Finance, Steeley will lead the “next stage of the company’s exciting growth ambitions” following new investment from Pollen Street Capital and the completion of product upgrades.

Brodie has been CEO of the Freedom Finance Group for just over six years, and before that he worked at Virgin Money for about four years in various management positions. This includes the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Freedom Finance was founded in 2014 and offers loans, credit cards, car financing and mortgages. On the mortgage side, the company says it has agreements with more than 90 UK lenders offering more than 12,000 products.

Steeley said she was excited to join the company at an “exciting new time in its growth journey” and looked forward to “further strengthening the company’s market position.”

She added: “Brian has led the business superbly over the past six years, navigating it through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic and growing it from a traditional brokerage to a fully digitized lending platform that is perfectly placed to seize future opportunities.

“The revolution in integrated finance only increases the relevance of our services in today’s market. I look forward to building on Brian’s hard work and unlocking the enormous potential of Freedom Finance with his continued support.
