DWP Easter 2022 Universal Credit Payment Dates Set to Change

DWP Universal Credit payment dates will change on Easter due to how the holidays fall. The change is expected to impact millions of families across the UK.

Payments are usually made monthly and vary depending on each household’s situation. It follows the introduction of the scheme in 2009 which replaced the old benefit systems which included child tax credit and housing allowance.

Depending on your ‘assessment period’, the date you can expect to receive your Universal Credit will possibly change around Easter 2022, Somerset Live reports.

This period begins on the date you first apply for benefits, and you will then receive money each calendar month thereafter. Funds are generally released 7 days after the end of the initial evaluation period.

However, since the Easter weekend gives millions of workers two extra days off, the money you expect to receive may change in date.

If you expect to receive your money on Friday April 15 or Monday April 18, you can expect to have the money in your bank account on Thursday April 14. That’s because Friday is Good Friday, so it’s a public holiday, and Monday is Easter Monday, another public holiday.

A similar change will occur during the May Bank Holiday and for the Bank Holidays marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. For the former, if your payment date lands on Monday, May 2, you can expect to receive your money on Friday, April 29, due to the public holiday.

Similarly, for the latter, if your payment date falls on Thursday June 2 or Friday June 3, you can expect to receive your money on Wednesday June 1 as those days are public holidays.

If the amount you receive or expect to receive is not enough, you can apply for hardship compensation, but you will have to pay it back. You can find out more about it at the government website .
