Brian Laundrie – update: Breaking news as Gabby Petito’s lawyer says Laundrie stole his credit card

Gabby Petito’s father calls Laundrie family “cowards”

Richard Stafford, the attorney representing the Petito family, claimed Brian Laundrie stole Gabby Petito’s credit card and used it after leaving it in Wyoming. Mr Stafford made the claim during an interview on Dr Phil McGraw’s show featuring Ms Petito’s family.

Mr Laundrie’s sister Cassie Laundrie urged her brother to come forward to “get us out of this horrible mess.”

Speaking on ABC News in an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday on “Good Morning America,” she said, “I would tell my brother to come forward and get us out of this horrible mess.”

Hiker Dennis Davis, an engineer from Florida, said he believed he spoke with Brian Laundrie on a road near the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina – near the Tennessee border. The audio of his 911 call was made public. He said the alleged Mr Laundrie was “talking wildly” about having to travel to California to see a girlfriend.

“There is no doubt in my mind that I spoke to Brian Laundrie – none at all,” he told the New York Post.

More serious criminal charges against Ms Petito’s missing boyfriend, Mr Laundrie, are “extremely likely” if he is found alive, the state prosecutor for Palm Beach County in Florida has said.

David Aronberg defended his office for failing to press charges against Mr Laundrie, saying “prosecutors have a heavier burden of proving cases beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Ask by Nation News Now why Mr Laundrie had not been charged with a more serious felony at this point in the death of his 22-year-old travel blogger girlfriend, who was ruled a homicide, Mr Aronberg added: “I think it happens.”

Mr Bertolino said the trip consisted of picking up some items and closing a storage unit as they plan to extend the trip beyond their scheduled end in Oregon in October.

“Brian returned home to Tampa from SLC on 08/17 and returned to SLC on 08/23 to join Gabby,” he added to Fox News. “To my knowledge, Brian and Gabby paid for the flights because they shared the expenses.”
